Airborne Consulting has significantly beefed up its Sharepoint skills with the appointment of Neil van Wyngaard as Systems Architect. Van Wyngaard was formerly a specialist Sharepoint instructor and Systems Architect for Bytes Technology.

The appointment of a Sharepoint guru like Neil will result in valuable skills transfer to the rest of out team and give us the expertise to remain at the forefront of this technology."
Van Wyngaard describes himself first and foremost as a trainer, but one who has always coupled training with stints of practical consultancy experience to ensure his extensive "book knowledge" remains relevant.
He says: "Many training institutions suffer from a lack of real world experience with the software and are out of touch with the problems faced by the people that are actually using the technology, so I have always felt it important to spend time on the ground as an architect."
His hands-on experience is further enhanced by his role as a specialist blogger on the IT community forum www.grounding.co.za. He says: "Initially I did not see the benefit in taking my hard earned knowledge and sharing it for free on the Internet, but subsequently I have found that through sharing what you know, you gain a lot more than keeping it to yourself."
Van Wyngaard had three offers of employment on the table when he elected to join Airborne, and says he was swayed by the consultancy's culture and employees. "Airborne is all about its people - they are all experts in their fields, and that makes for a very stimulating work environment," he says.
Van Wyngaard is a MCSE, MCSD, MCDBA, MCT, MCTS, MCITP, and MCBMSS. His core industry focus is CRM, ERP, EPM and ECM implementations in the enterprise environment, and his core technology focus is based on SQL Server, Visual Studio, WSS, MOSS and OCS.
