Shell South Africa has launched a new online service to help South African motorists plan their trips. The service, Shell GeoStar (
www.ShellGeoStar.co.za
), features detailed road maps, route planners, the latest weather updates, and motoring and destination information.
Ebrahim Parker, e-commerce manager at Shell, says the site is free and user-friendly. "It is unique in bringing together all the journey-planning and travel-related services a motorist needs in one convenient place online."
Shell GeoStar is aimed at making the motoring experience safer and more enjoyable for motorists. The Web site offers step-by-step driving directions and maps throughout SA, a route planner facility to map out the journey, a street finder function, listings of places of interest, travel destination and city information, and daily updated news, weather and road conditions.
Erwin Friederich, Shell's GM of retail, says: "This is a great new concept in motoring, and we are proud to be first to market with it."
