Shoden confidently continues with SPARC

Johannesburg, 24 Jun 2010

Data centre technology specialist, Shoden Data Systems, a Fujitsu Enterprise Reseller Partner in South Africa, has reaffirmed its ability provide an alternative solution to enterprises that feel the SPARC going out of their IT solutions.

Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise servers are proven UNIX systems based on the latest high-performance processor architecture (SPARC64 VII quad-core) and running Solaris 10, the most world's most popular UNIX operating environment, and Fujitsu has a legacy in this environment. Fujitsu's SPARC Enterprise M-Series technology is designed by Fujitsu Japan, a key developer within the international SPARC forum.

“We have a well-established relationship with Fujitsu,” says Rui de Oliveira, Product Manager at Shoden Data Systems. “Over the past eight years we have built a solid reputation by delivering Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise solutions to customers who require a high-level of reliability and availability, particularly in their mission-critical systems. At Shoden, we have SPARC expertise in both hardware and software and our engineers have undergone extensive training in Germany and Japan.”

This enables Shoden to offer complete enterprise solutions and consulting from pre-sales through to system architecture. “Our approach is thorough. We look at the enterprise and assess the environment with a view to aligning the business objectives and systems with the technology solution,” adds De Oliveira. “This enables the enterprise to make a calculated investment into an optimally-efficient solution.”

Shoden offers a flexible, tailored approach to its customers and can continue to do so due to the consistency of Fujitsu's support of SPARC Enterprise.

“Depending on customers' requirements, we are able to offer predictable TCO models for any period between one and 5 years. We keep a substantial inventory of spares, we are accountable to our customers and we provide end-to-end solutions,” says De Oliveira.

Essentially, the Fujitsu and Shoden Data Systems partnership enables companies running SPARC/Solaris Solutions in their mission-critical environments to confidently continue with this established and stable technology. “Fujitsu has a proud heritage as one of the developers of SPARC technology and we continue to support this and to develop our competencies in the Solaris operating environment,” says Jane Tully, Channel Manager at Fujitsu. “Our partnership with Shoden Data Systems has resulted in many successful installations and implementations and we are confident that we will continue to grow our SPARC customer base through this partnership.”
