Local distribution of VMware will be handled by Shoden Data Systems, which also distributes Hitachi Data Systems and Inrange Technologies. This is according to Marc Trevenen, marketing director at Shoden Data Systems, who says VMWare's technology assists users in cost-effective server consolidation.
"VMware virtualises the Intel hardware architecture thus enabling mainframe-class virtual machine technology, virtual networking and advanced workload management on Intel computers. This means that one server running VMware software can function as multiple virtual machines, each running their own independent operating systems and application processes - such as file server or print server. "VMware software maximises hardware utilisation and simplifies server management while accelerating development, test and deployment activities and increasing security and reliability," he concludes.
