The subscription video-on-demand service, ShowMax, is now available to DStv customers who use an Internet-connected Explora decoder.
The new option makes it easier for those who do not own a smart TV to watch ShowMax content on larger screens.
This is the fourth new viewing option introduced by the company over the past four months, in a bid to expand its audience.
ShowMax is now available as an app on the Apple TV and offers support for AirPlay and Chromecast, which allows users to stream from mobile devices to big screen TVs.
"In South Africa, interest in Internet TV is entering a new phase," says Barron Ernst, ShowMax chief product officer.
"In addition to early adopters, we're now seeing a more mainstream customer base wanting to try the service out. For Explora owners this is a risk-free proposition - binge entire boxsets from the very beginning without having to buy any new equipment."
To access ShowMax on an Explora, the decoder needs to be connected to the Internet. More information on how to connect the Explora is available here.
Explora users will still need a ShowMax subscription to access the content.
ShowMax will be added to all active DStv Explora decoders in the country in a phased rollout.
