Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), the world`s leading provider of eBusiness management solutions, today announced that Siemens Business Services (SBS) Outsourcing division in Denmark has selected CA`s CleverPath Portal and CleverPath Enterprise Content Manager (CleverPath ECM) to build its enterprise eBusiness knowledge management system.
SBS is a company of Siemens AG group, focusing on facility management and consultancy services. Its new Enterprise Information Portal is designed to support its highly information-driven workforce and increase operational efficiency by creating structured knowledge management processes and providing easy, reliable and immediate access to vital, relevant and timely information.
SBS outsourcing division in Denmark selected CA`s CleverPath solutions because of their robust functionality, ease of deployment and scalability. CleverPath Portal provides SBS users with full, integrated access to the information resources they require through a familiar browser interface. As a 100% Java solution, CleverPath Portal readily integrates with SBS` evolving IT infrastructure and makes it easy to evolve its portal-based system to address changing business requirements. CleverPath ECM allows the diverse resources being used by SBS employees - including information about contracts, client installations and current technologies - to be effectively captured, tracked, published and managed across the enterprise. CleverPath ECM also makes it easy to flexibly design and implement rule-based knowledge workflow processes.
"The ability to share information and knowledge about our clients across the enterprise in both structured and unstructured ways is crucial to the efficiency and profitability of our business," said Tom Kr"uhlmann, Head of SBS` Innovation Management Department in Denmark. "The combination of CA`s CleverPath Portal and CleverPath ECM uniquely enables us to achieve this objective by providing a platform for publishing information to all our employees, so that they have it when they need it and they can be certain that it is totally up-to-date."
Another key factor in SBS` decision to use CA`s solutions was CA`s unique business model, which enabled SBS to initially license CleverPath software on a monthly basis while it piloted its portal concept. "CA`s flexible approach to licensing its software is extremely attractive for us at a time when it`s critical to eliminate risk from our IT projects," said Kr"uhlmann.
SBS is currently implementing the CleverPath solutions on Windows 2000 and is considering a move to other platforms. The portability of CleverPath Portal and CleverPath ECM to multiple platforms therefore further increased their appeal to SBS.
Based on the timesavings to individual employees alone, Kr"uhlmann estimates that his company`s CleverPath Portal implementation will pay for itself within 12-18 months, and that CleverPath ECM will pay for itself in just 6-8 months.
"Thanks to CA`s CleverPath technology, SBS can deliver the right information to the right people at the right time in a personalized way - enabling them to significantly improve both their operational efficiency and the level of service that they can deliver to their customers," said Per Kogut, managing director, CA Nordic. "Just as importantly, because of our unique business model, CA was able to offer SBS the financial terms it needed to get this successful technology initiative off and running."
