Siemens, Duxbury co-operation agreement advances HiPath strategy

Johannesburg, 05 Jun 2001

Siemens Telecommunications announced it has signed a co-operation agreement with Duxbury Networking, which represents Enterasys, a worldwide partner of Siemens.

Duxbury is a value-added channel partner of networking and communications products. This South African agreement is expected to strengthen Siemens' competence in the implementation of its HiPath IP convergence strategy by utilising the Enterasys range of IP networking products wherever prudent.

Siemens Information and Communications Group (I and C Group), the global leader in digital switching and voice/data integration, recently launched its business strategy for next generation enterprise IP communications in SA. Called HiPath, it is an important element in the drive by Siemens to offer customers mobile solutions. The Enterprise Convergence Architecture strengthens business communications by enabling a company's existing voice and data infrastructures and applications to interoperate globally over all networks.

Graham Duxbury, Managing Director of Duxbury Networking, commented: "We see the co-operation as providing a strategic direction for Duxbury Networking to merge the two worlds of voice and data, as we understand that both sides of the technologies need to form expert partnerships in order to satisfy the needs of our customers.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for Duxbury to be partnering with leading voice company, Siemens. With our wide range of data and convergence products, coupled with the enormous market share that Siemens has in SA, we are set on an unprecedented growth path."

Managing director, Enterprise Solutions, Hilton Loewenstein said: "Duxbury are fully conversant with our HiPath strategy and already well enabled to complement HiPath with their suite of Enterasys products, which includes the technology for wireless local area networks, voice and data integration, internetworking, remote access, ISDN, switches, hubs and the like. The co-operative relationship with Duxbury/Enterasys will enable us to offer a complete range of solutions in the IP telephony arena
