Siemens in energy meter project
data management system (MDMS) for its forthcoming smart meter project, says Enterprise Communications.
The initial phase of the project focuses on the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) deployment, and via a bespoke data meter from Siemens, Fort Collins will process commercial and industrial metering to the MDMS.
According to Market Watch, Siemens' proven project management methodology, PM@Siemens, was a deciding factor in the selection of the project.
“We required a partner that is agile and flexible, and the Siemens/eMeter team is just that. The Fort Collins Smart Grid deployment will enable two-way digital communication between the advanced meters and our system managers, reducing operational costs, related truck rolls and improving customer service,” says Steve Catanach, Light and Power operations manager for City of Fort Collins Utilities.
Siemens understands the complete energy conversion chain, and is able to transform today's grid into a living infrastructure that is smart enough to respond quickly, flexibly and comprehensively to society's energy needs, writes The Sacramento Bee.
Siemens incorporates solutions for commercial and industrial applications, as well as smart homes, including building automation, IT systems integration, advanced lighting technology, and energy-efficient appliances for a comprehensive Smart Grid solution.
