Bidorbuy.co.za, the online auction site that recently auctioned off a number of plastic surgery procedures, is introducing a new concept aimed at creating a channel for new product promotion.
Snap Auctions, to be launched on Wednesday, will regularly feature a limited number of new products which would be auctioned off in halfhour-long snap auctions. In line with bidorbuy.co.za`s usual strategy, bidding starts at R1, and there is no reserve price.
The first will auction 100 Siemens` M35i cellphones. Bidding will open at 8am and close at 8pm, with multiple snap auctions where an average of five phones will be auctioned in each session.
Bidders will be ranked by price, quantity and time of bid. The winning bidders will be announced when the auction closes, and the top 10 bidders of the day will also receive a free car kit.
Snap Auctions has been registered and the auction house hopes it will soon become a recognised name for these auctions.
'We are delighted to launch our new product through the innovative and thrilling Snap Auction platform of bidorbuy," says Kerry Lee McWilliams, marketing manager, mobile phones division, Siemens. "We think it`s a great concept and that it has an exciting future in online commerce."
The WAP-enabled M35i features personal picture messaging, intuitive typing and improved shock, water and dust resistance. The cellular phones are expected to retail for over R1 600 each.
