Siltek Telecoms appoints Mauritian VAR

Siltek Telecoms, the master distributor of Lucent BCS products in Southern and sub-Saharan Africa, has signed an agreement with a new reseller in Mauritius. Blanche Birger, based in Port Louis, Mauritius, mainly targets the popular hospitality industry, and will handle the entire range of Lucent voice products, as well as Active Voice`s range of CTI solutions.

John Lee, product manager at Blanche Birger, says the recent streamlining of Lucent BCS`s channel model has greatly benefited resellers across the sub-Saharan Africa region.

"The appointment of Siltek Telecoms as Lucent`s sole distributor gives resellers one main point of contact and supply. This has greatly improved the logistics and delivery times within the channel," comments Lee.

Michael Aitken, managing director of Siltek Telecoms, says the active expansion of the reseller base, locally and in the Africa region, is in line with Siltek Telecoms` ongoing strategy to gain ground in the telecommunications market sector.

Blanche Birger`s recent deals include the implementation of Lucent`s "GuestWorks" hospitality solution at the luxury holiday resort, St Geran. GuestWorks is an integrated, turnkey telephone system that combines four critical telecommunications requirements, call processing, messaging, phones, and services, into a complete system.

GuestWorks main benefit lies in its ability to free franchisees and independent hotels from buying communications equipment piecemeal, and from spending valuable resources to keep the system running. In contrast with competitive offerings that consist of a telephone system surrounded by a variety of third-party, non-integrated adjuncts, the system integrates key hospitality features, such as Crisis Alerting and Call Centre, within the architecture of the solution. Not only does this integration differentiate a business, it also allows more focus on the provision of value-added services to guests.
