Specialist telecommunications distributor, Siltek Telecoms, met recently with the Hungarian Ambassador, Dr Laszlo Pordany, to discuss possible synergies between itself and companies in the Hungarian telecommunications industry.
Michael Aitken, managing director of Siltek Telecoms, says the distributor is looking for new opportunities with non-traditional players in the telecommunications industry. "The market has always been dominated by French, German, and Dutch equipment. By partnering with 77Elektronika, Siltek Telecoms has access to a new offering of high-quality, cost-effective solutions."
Aitken continues by explaining that, as an example, 77Elektronika, with its "Pair Gain" technology has been extremely successful in winning government tenders in Europe. "Hungarian companies, like 77Elektronika, have a well-educated, highly skilled work force. Additionally, production costs in Eastern Europe are far more cost-effective than in the US or Western Europe, and this is often crucial to winning business."
Because many of the components of 77Elektronika's pair gain system will be manufactured locally, the partnership between the two companies will create multiple job opportunities. In addition, Dr Pordany sees significant possibilities between his country and South Africa, and mentions the fact that both are extremely similar in infrastructure and history - both political and economic. "South Africa and Hungary underwent dramatic socio-political changes at the same time. In this regard, the two countries have a lot in common, and a lot to offer each other. The partnership between Siltek Telecoms and 77Elektronika is a prime example of our expanding economy and market penetration."
"As with the South African Government," he continues, "Hungary places great importance on the small- to medium- enterprise (SMME) and sees companies like 77Elektronika as the future of our economy. It is hoped that there will be many more partnerships between the two economies," he concludes.
