Simply Accounting gets upgrade for Computer Faire

Just in time to be launched at Computer Faire 2002, a major upgrade to Simply Accounting by ACCPAC has been announced - one that adds several new modules to the trusted small to medium enterprise (SME) business accounting application.

Ann Cumming, Simply Accounting marketing manager, says version 9.0 of Simply Accounting combines six essential accounting modules in a single package and incorporates dozens of enhancements. "It now includes the Daily Business Manager and Time & Billing modules," she adds.

The Daily Business Manager, according to Cumming, provides a single focus on the most critical daily management tasks. "From this control centre, users can store notes and reminders and attach them to specific dates on the calendar. This is suitable for timely collections, tax filings and staying up-to-date with general accounting tasks," she explains.

The new module also scans the accounting database for time-sensitive issues and notifies the user of all the important accounting tasks that need attention. "These include payments due, discounts available to be taken as well as cheques and invoices due to be printed and posted. In addition, a batch-processing feature enables users to process multiple transactions at once, instead of going through repeated individual processing. All the tasks can be launched directly from the control centre, saving time and increasing overall productivity."

Building on these management benefits, Simply Accounting Pro 9.0 provides additional reporting features to assist in monitoring the business and improving the decision-making process. "For example, the new Financial Ratios report provides an instant snapshot of performance issues such as average daily sales, liquidity, and profitability," notes Cumming. "The Audit control feature has also been enhanced by transaction reports that can now be printed with names of users who made the entries," she adds.

Other additional features include: pop-up calendars on date fields throughout the product; customisable data entry fields for storing special information about vendors and customers; inventory and projects; flexible options to set up custom sales taxes; and the ability to link to a favourite currency exchange rate Web site from transaction screens. Simply Accounting Pro 9.0 supports multiple users and multiple currencies. "The new Time & Billing module has been added to enable businesses to track time and invoice their clients accordingly," notes Cumming.

Inventory Management has also been enhanced in Simply Accounting Pro 9.0, by adding a Bill of Materials feature. "Simply Accounting Pro users can now specify the components needed for assembling items and have the system take care of the details with its auto-build functionality," she explains. Another enhancement found in Simply Accounting Pro 9.0 is the ability to do multiple year reporting. The new version stores one hundred years of financial history for in-depth financial analysis.

While Simply Accounting Pro 9.0 will only ship in May and be available at Computer Faire, Cummings says that customers taking the decision to purchase the current release now, will enjoy full upgrade protection. "Anyone purchasing [version] 8.5 now will receive a free upgrade to version 9.0," she concludes.
