Datacentrix yesterday announced the resignation of non-executive director Thenjiwe Chikane, who stepped down to chair the State IT Agency (SITA).
Company chairman Gary Morolo, who had intended to announce Chikane`s appointment to the Datacentrix board, instead told shareholders that she yesterday tendered her resignation from her position on the audit committee.
Speaking at the company`s interim results presentation in Johannesburg yesterday, he said Chikane`s appointment as chairman of SITA had made it inappropriate for her to continue sitting on the Datacentrix board - a position she had held since 24 May.
Chikane, a qualified chartered accountant, is also CEO of MGO Consulting, and previously headed the Department of Finance and Economic Affairs in Gauteng.
Her directorships include Telkom, the Development Bank of Southern Africa, the Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa and the Mpumalanga Economic Empowerment Corporation.
