On 14 September 1999 at 09:30 the signing of a Business Agreement and Service Level Agreements between SITA (State Information Technology Agency) and the Eastern Cape government will take place. The signing will take place at the State House in Bisho and SITA will be represented by its chairman and acting MD, Mr Sello Rasethaba, and the Eastern Cape Government by the Premier, Rev Makaenkesi Stofile. Various dignitaries, MEC`s and mayors of neighbouring towns have been invited to attend the occasion. The Eastern Cape Government will then become a subscribing department to SITA.
The interim Business Agreement will later be converted into a Business Agreement to meet the stipulations of the State Information Technology Agency Act, 1998 (Act No 88 of 1998). Various Service Level Agreements agreed upon by SITA and the Office of the Premier will also be signed in terms of the specific service and requirements of the Office of the Premier as well as the agreed quantified and measurable service level at which the service concerned is to be rendered. The signing of the Business Agreement and Service Level Agreements is viewed as a major step forward to the incorporation of the Information Technology services of the Eastern Cape government into SITA.
SITA will provide services to the Eastern Cape which include:
. Network services
. Printing services
. Central data processing services (in particular Persal and FBS)
. Information technology and information systems training
. Application software development and maintenance services
. Provide technical, functional and business advice and support regarding information technology
. Undertake the acquisition and procurement management i.r.o. information technology.
