SITA invites service bidders

Johannesburg, 03 Aug 2007

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is inviting applications for providers to receive its accreditation as suppliers.

The call for applications defines the services to be acquired as a "managed skill set" for a period of up to three years, which includes service delivery management, but excludes hardware and acquisitions.

SITA is looking to establish two lists of service providers through this process.

This first list "is to identify service providers who are providers that can be reasonably trusted to render services in excess of R2 million," SITA says.

The second list "is to identify smaller and market entrant SMEs and BEEs that are unable to meet the full accreditation criteria, but which are provided with an opportunity to do business with public bodies".

The R2 million threshold for the first list is described as "only an indication, and is not intended to limit the potential business from the client with any one of the groups," the agency notes.

If selected as a direct service provider, the successful applicants will be required to use five selected suppliers on a rotational basis. Only if there are not five suppliers in any given region, can other suppliers be utilised by the service providers.

Being accredited as a supplier to SITA "does not imply that services shall be obtained from the supplier. SITA can not guarantee that the accredited suppliers shall secure business from the client (SITA)". There is no limit to how many service providers can be accredited though this application process.

The closing date for applications to be submitted is 28 August. The documentation can be obtained from SITA.
