Sites for sale

Web hosting and marketing company Compuzone Internet Technologies (CIT) is selling 30 of its top user domains and several secondary domain names and Web sites to the general public and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

CIT sees the sale of its domain names and Web sites at www.domains-forsale.co.za as a way of empowering SMEs to establish and grow a professional online company.

It is challenging and costly to find a good URL to build a brand for a new business, says CIT managing member Frank Coetzee.

Coetzee says while CIT`s business involves Web hosting and Internet marketing on www.marketit.co.za, the firm registered domains-forsale.co.za a few months ago to offer a new domains-for-sale .

"Not many South African businesses realise that Internet domain names are the 'real estate property` of the Internet," he says.

"We hope this will initiate a similar performance from other ISPs and Internet-related businesses so more SMEs can quickly and effectively build and grow a professional online company."

Some of the domains on offer are highly ranked on Ananzi, says Coetzee, and include names like legal-portal.co.za, debt-collection.co.za and barclay-card.co.za.

"Two or three of the domains and Web sites were also for potential clients that later disappeared without paying for either registration or development.

"We fully realise the value of the domain names and Web sites on offer. We will still have over 70 active Web sites left and would prefer to sell those additional domain names for between R495 and R6 235 for the best domain," he says.
