Sky unveils 3D football matches
Sky television says sports fans will be able to watch football in 3D in pubs and living rooms before the end of the year, reports Mail Online.
The broadcaster has started testing its technology by filming matches in 3D at stadiums across the country, in which it says football will form a major part of its 3D TV channel content.
Darren Long, Sky Sports' director of operations, says: “We've spent over 18 months recording 3D content, and sport works very well. Sport is all about emotion, and seeing it in 3D adds to the experience.”
Air America goes bankrupt
Air America reports it has gone bankrupt again. This is the second time the radio network filed for bankruptcy, states Huliq News.
Air America will cease broadcasting immediately, with the station stating on its Web site that it was bowing to what it called a “very difficult economic environment”. The company is filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy, which will halt its business completely.
The network cited poor national and advertising sales in the media industry. Newspapers, TV, and radio have seen advertising revenue hit drastically, as consumers have access to far more entertainment venues.
BBC's renovation spending investigated
The BBC's governing body has called in the public spending watchdog to investigate the spiralling cost of the corporation's renovations to Broadcasting House, says the Telegraph.
Redevelopment of the corporation's flagship building in central London is at least £20 million (R244 million) over its £813 million (R9.9 billion) budget and two years behind schedule.
The grand plans include a £1.65 million (R20 million) public piazza, glass facades and special zones for 'creative discussion'. It is also being fitted with technology for the BBC's new Arabic service.
