Skycall announced today that Mitel was chosen as the official product to be included as part of its comprehensive range of VOIP and end user solutions. SkyCall partnered with Duxbury Networking as supplier, introducing the Mitel range via the existing SkyCall national dealer and reseller network. SkyCall will initially introduce the Mitel Micro 1000 which is a perfect fit for home and medium business, followed by the converged Mitel 3300 IP-PBX for the larger and VPN applications.
Says Pieter Botha, dealer manager of SkyCall: "After months of investigating international trends and suppliers, SkyCall decided to introduce the MITEL range as perfect fit to our target market which includes the Home User, Small Office, SME and VPN solutions. We believe that MITEL is a trusted brand that will enhance our product offering and moving SkyCall forward as preferred one stop service provider for voice and hardware."
Cost of communication
Botha also expressed his dismay at the pace at which cheaper data and communication is becoming available, a matter under discussion for years, seen as a barrier of entry for communities and small business into the IP market place. The outcome of the pending court case initiated by Altech certainly prohibits the industry from growing at the rate it should, and the IP-readiness of South Africa for 2010 could well be affected if there is no speedy outcome. From a Regulatory point of view, we hope it to be wrapped up soon in order for ICASA to proceed with its licensing conversions. Furthermore we trust that the introduction of cheaper data services by Neotel will set the pace for the other incumbents to follow suit. What we aim for is more affordable communication in South Africa in general.
Mobile data
SkyCall, being a subsidiary of a licensed VAN's telco operator supports the provisioning of data and voice solutions to areas and end users where the incumbent fixed line operators are not willing to provide. This include solutions making use of the GSM networks via 3G/HSDPA or even satellite in remote locations, the latter depending on the outcome of the ICASA court case. The upgrading of the current generation networks will certainly help in achieving better communication platforms.
Moving forward
The SkyCall Research and Development team continually look at new developments and is exploring ways to enhance our product offerings.
It is not just all about savings
SkyCall firmly believes that "save on your telephone account" should not be used as the only motivation for end users to consider change. South Africa is in an exciting cycle of change where VOIP is still very young as a technology. It is unfortunate that the wrong message is sometimes conveyed to the customer, ending up with a bad taste in the mouth about the industry. It is the responsibility of all the VOIP Service Providers to educate and provide the best quality of service possible in order for this industry to sustain the current growth. SkyCall is committed to this education process and provision of a level of service that will enhance the customer experience. SkyCall treat every customer with a holistic approach towards a total solution of which savings could be an added bonus.
