Smart Village has unveiled the Residential Operating System (ROS), an all-in-one entertainment, communications, and sharing and connected lifestyle service.

"The age is upon us, and Smart Village embraces this new era with a unique consumer experience that goes well beyond a triple-play bundle," says Chris van der Walt, MD of Smart Village.

"ROS seamlessly integrates , multimedia, communications, home monitoring, the best of the Web, and more; it delivers all services across multiple devices, thereby enabling us to set the new standards for consumer needs and value that places our customers into the future."

According to Van der Walt, ROS has been designed for discerning consumers wanting more than typical dual- or triple-play TV, phone and Internet offerings.

"ROS is a service that instantly adds real value to a subscriber's home Internet service and any device connected to it. It brings together your digital life, and makes it easy to access content and services from your TV and including any computer, mobile smartphone or tablet," he explains.

According to the company, households with broadband and Internet access can, through ROS, view or share personal videos, music and photos, and conveniently communicate with friends and family from across the globe using VOIP digital phone technology.

"ROS expands unique capabilities to the market and takes the service offering beyond the scope of estate living," says Anousheh Ansari, CEO of Prodea Systems.

"To deliver this vision across a whole new set of multi-screen services required us to step up our game. Fortunately, our managed, hybrid-cloud platform is a natural fit," he adds.

The ROS beta service has just launched in several selected communities, and will be expanding across the region in the near future.
