Smartcom facilitates communication for all South Africans

Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2003

Smartcom, a specialised cellular service provider, continues to reinforce its commitment to the local community by promoting communication accessibility to all South Africans with its three-year partnership with Sebros Telecommunications Solutions.

Although Smartcom predominantly targets high end-users as its niche market, it is not averse to supporting other aspects of the market that require communication support.

Says Nick Zografos, Chief Executive Officer, Smartcom Mobile Communications: "Shortly after the inception of Smartcom we were approached by a number of individuals and businesses requiring GSM airtime assistance for the larger community base. Very few of these individuals and businesses made the grade as we decided early on that we would set stringent criteria for future partners. Parckslee Segooa, however, was clearly a visionary and clever entrepreneur and we are proud to say our relationship is now entering its third year. By providing Parckslee's company, Sebros Telecommunications Solutions, with airtime, we are able to facilitate communication for many South Africans who normally do not have access to telephones or cellphones."

Sebros has established numerous sites whereby they offer the general public the use of a phone. Users are only charged for the time they use. In addition, Sebros has contributed significantly to community upliftment by providing job and wealth creation for previously disadvantaged individuals in various areas.

"Smartcom is our preferred cellular service provider because they have consistently provided us with exceptional levels of service and helped us formulate our business model. At a time when many companies wouldn't put their faith in a start-up company such as ours, Smartcom recognised our potential and in the past three years we have both seen our respective companies grow substantially - I'm proud that we both saw value in each other's companies and services. What we have created so far is just the beginning and we hope to grow the business significantly with the help of Smartcom in the future," says Parckslee Segooa, Managing Director, Sebros Telecommunications Solutions.

Based in Johannesburg, Smartcom seeks to identify and provide effective services and products in an effort to continuously provide superior and personalised levels of service to its diverse customer base.
