SMB - your security issues are no less challenging

Johannesburg, 20 Mar 2006

Whether you`re a multinational or a small organisation, protecting your data is the single most important thing you can do today. What will your business be if your client lists, strategic information and auditing documentation suddenly disappeared?

According to the experts, the longer it takes to recover from a catastrophic loss of data, the greater the likelihood that you`ll be out of business. In fact, only 6% of businesses beat the odds.

The good news is that today`s data protection options are more powerful than ever and are optimised to fit your business size and needs. The bad news is that the threats are growing in severity and are definitely not biased towards larger infrastructures.

So, as an SME how can I protect and defend my data? For one, CA offers a full range of anti-virus, anti-spyware, data backup and desktop migration solutions - all backed by enterprise-scale pre- and post-sales support and maintenance.

Our desktop management solutions, for example, support all employees` computing needs - whether it is two or 50 users - and reduce the number of IT resources needed for PC migrations, deployments or desktop recovery.

Furthermore, we work proactively with other leading hardware vendors to offer bundled solutions that are tailored particularly towards the local SME marketplace`s security and other IT needs.

We, for example, recently partnered with Sun Microsystems to offer SMB-optimised bundles featuring Sun`s X2100 or X4200 galaxy servers (depending on business needs) that offer 32-bit or 64-bit native computing and incorporate CA`s Server Protection Suite for resilient and advanced business data protection.

With these bundles both CA and Sun are offering two tier one brands at a cost-effective price point, effectively enabling smaller businesses to truly benefit from products that allow for competitive, secure and reliable business operations.

CA also plans to embark on similar partnerships in the future that will undoubtedly contribute positively to the SME IT marketplace`s security evolution.
