SMC card tackles remote management

By PR Connections
Johannesburg, 24 May 1999

Remote management, an increasingly important function on the network as technical skills costs continue to rise, is a key feature in the SMCEtherPower II 10/100 PCI network card.

The card is a 32-bit bus-mastering and has three LEDs for operating mode, link and data rate for easier network diagnostic.

The remote Wakeup function enables network managers to power PCs from a central location for after hours update and servicing of desktops.

The card also features an on-board socket for an optional boot ROM and supports most popular network operating systems.

In addition to full-duplex operation, throughput performance has been increased through the use of SimulTasking and programmable InterPacket Gap.
