SMC expands entry-level networking line

Focusing its efforts on delivering LAN infrastructure products with a low cost of ownership for small- to medium-sized networks, SMC has introduced new SMC EZ Card 10 Ethernet PCI and ISA network cards. Greg Perkins, country manager of SMC Networks in SA, says the new products provide 10 Mbps Ethernet connectivity at an affordable price. "The cards are NE2000 compatible and feature drivers for today`s most popular networking environments, a boot ROM socket, diagnostic LEDs, full-duplex support, FCC Class B compliance and CE Marking," he says. The newly announced products are members of the SMC EZ Line of low-cost solutions for basic LAN connectivity and are backed by the best customer service and support in the industry. "SMC currently offers two distinct product lines, providing customers with a choice within a single source, depending upon their network infrastructure," says Perkins. The SMC EZ line of LAN solutions deliver low-cost, plug-and-play, network cards, hubs, and stackable hubs, as well as desktop and workgroup switches, containing basic performance features. The company`s Tiger line of LAN solutions span the same product categories as the EZ line but are designed for managed LAN growth. These high-performance, feature-rich products are competitively priced, but offer enhanced functionality such as hub-based segmentation and integrated switching, as well as management capabilities including SNMP and RMON.
