SMEs get fixed-mobile convergence

Computer manufacturer, Toshiba unveiled an IP media server system called IPedge EP targeted at small and medium enterprises (SMEs), reports TMCnet.

The IP media server solution can also support add-on applications including conferencing with Web collaboration, uMobility fixed-mobile convergence and contact centre solutions.

Channel Partners Online says according to the company, the benefits of the Linux server include survivability within or across the network to support business continuity and a high-level of security.

Toshiba's Call Manager application enables users to click on their laptop or tablet PCs to dial, answer and transfer calls. Call Manager includes presence, chat, instant messaging and CRM integration with programs including SalesForce.com, Act, and Microsoft Outlook.

Telecom Reseller states fixed-mobile convergence helps users stay connected when they are away from the office via the uMobility fixed mobile convergence solution.

Brian Metherell, VP and GM of Toshiba America Information Systems, telecommunication systems division, says: “With Toshiba's IPedge EP single server solution, small businesses can empower their users to communicate more effectively, be more cost effective, and have greater access to their customers, partners and each other.”
