SMEs will benefit from Reflectent acquisition

The Citrix Systems acquisition of US-based access management vendor Reflectent will benefit SA`s large number small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger global enterprises, says Chris Norton, director of Southern and Eastern Africa, Citrix Systems.

Reflectent Software deploys solutions to monitor the performance of client-server, Web and desktop applications from an end-user perspective, according to a company statement.

The needs of enterprises in SA are no different from the rest of the world and the acquisition addresses a common global need for this kind of solution, says Norton.

SMEs have the same needs as large enterprises globally, but on a smaller scale with simpler implementation. The solutions will cater to both, he says.

Reflectent is the third acquisition in two years by Citrix in the access infrastructure space, reflecting the company`s aggressive growth of moving into adjacent, high-growth segments, he says.

"The company is a provider of application performance monitoring, a facet of access management solutions, that will enable us to gauge and monitor the end-user experience and therefore pre-empt support," says Norton.

"This deal allows us to focus on the quality of the end-user experience."

The company will continue to trade under the existing brand until a full integration is made into the Citrix stable, Norton says. Citrix is already in negotiation with local resellers for the sale of the new products, which will be available on 1 October, he says.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
