Smile for charity

Johannesburg, 06 Oct 2005

HP has launched a 'smile` campaign to support The Star Smile Fund for children with facial deformities.

HP is calling on South Africans to donate pictures of themselves, family members, friends or colleagues. Every smile donated at www.hp.za/smile will be displayed online and could be part of the giant "smile" canvass, a collection of smiles, which will be unveiled in November.

People who donate their smiles will also be able to print their smile certificate or share their smile online with their friends and family.

The Star Smile Fund is a non-profit organisation for children suffering from facial deformities. It operates through an agreement with the state infrastructure, surgeons and anaesthetists, who contribute their skills pro bono.

People can also SMS "HPSMILE" to 36560. The cost of the SMS is R5, of which a portion will go to The Star Smile Fund.

Those who SMS the fund could win an HP bundle-prize consisting of an HP Photosmart R817 camera, an HP Photosmart 385 printer, a pack of HP Premium Plus paper, an HP NX6110 notebook and Microsoft imaging software. People can also donate by visiting www.thesmilefund.co.za.

Spinathons are being hosted at selected Planet Fitness gyms this weekend, which will also raise money for the fund.
