Jeshurun Consulting, SmoothWall's local distributor, has the privilege of announcing the launch of the latest version of SmoothWall Corporate Firewall Version 5, the network security software appliance designed to fulfil the security needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and corporate branch offices.
New additions include VOIP gateway protection, enhanced logging and reporting, and configuration replication between multiple offices.
Corporate Firewall Version 5 addresses the growing need in the market for SME Internet security solutions that offer the principal capabilities of enterprise-class security products, while remaining competitively priced and easy to manage.
Operating on a standard server or PC hardware, Corporate Firewall is the initial building block upon which a fully integrated network security system can be developed. Add-on modules provide e-mail security (anti-spam and anti-virus), Web security (content filtering, anti-virus, anti-spyware and browser exploit detection) and bandwidth management (QoS) facilities.

Based upon a security hardened version of Linux, software installation takes less than 10 minutes, with subsequent configuration and management being undertaken from any Web browser using an intuitive Ajax enhanced GUI. Key developments in Corporate Firewall Version 5 include:
VOIP: SIP proxy and gateway that can operate in both transparent and registering modes to support voice over IP telephony.
Web security: Updated SmoothGuardian module includes anti-virus scanning and improved malicious code detection capabilities.
Integrated VPN: IPSec for site-to-site network connections, with L2TP providing secure remote access for home and mobile workers.
Reports and incident alerts: Includes many new and improved reports with automatic incident alert messages sent via SMS text message and e-mail.
Replication and backup: Configuration rules can be replicated between multiple Corporate Firewall systems with the option for automatic unattended off-site backups.
Hardware support: Supports the latest PC hardware with software RAID mirroring of IDE, SATA and SCSI disks.
According to industry analysts Infonetics Research, the worldwide network security appliance and software market grew 2% between the first and second quarters of 2006 and is forecast to continue growing in the order of 7% per annum to reach a total of $5.1 billion by 2009.
