SOA a good idea

Although SOA has reached the point where it generally is considered to be a good idea, BEA`s deputy CTO Theo Beack is concerned that much of the resources dedicated to the modern enterprise infrastructure are underutilised, reports SOA World.

"There is much untapped potential within the typical enterprise. This is where the combination of SOA and virtualisation appears to be a natural fit," he notes.

Beack will present this week to the delegation in San Francisco attending the SOA World Conference & Expo 2007, co-located with Virtualisation Conference & Expo 2007, at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco.

EA Summit begins next month

Gartner`s Enterprise Architecture (EA) Summit will take place from the 5 to 7 December 2007, in Las Vegas, at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino, reports Gartner.

The EA Summit is co-located with the Gartner Application Architecture, Development & Integration Summit that provides the latest advice on SOA, Web Services, Application Development and Integration.

Sessions will include three keynotes, featuring Nick Gall, Ram Charan and Susan Cramm. Twenty breakout sessions by Gartner analysts, full of "big picture" strategies, will take place, as well as practical recommendations and five case study or user-led sessions.

Metastorm hits targets

Metastorm announced its financial results for its third quarter ending 30 September 2007, says EarthTimes.org.

The company hit all of its financial targets, while at the same time completing the acquisition of Proforma Corporation - a strategic move that extended Metastorm`s reach into new markets, substantially increased its revenue base, and extended the company`s product portfolio.

Inclusive of the Proforma acquisition, Metastorm experienced 47% growth in total revenue year-over-year.
