SOA book reveals best practices
The Open Group, a vendor-and technology-neutral consortium focused on open standards and global interoperability within and between enterprises, has released the first edition of 'The SOA Source Book', according to SearchSOA.
The book is written for enterprise and IT architects and provides a best practices approach to implementing a service-oriented architecture (SOA) based on The Open Group Architecture Framework.
Dr Chris Harding, forum director of the SOA Work Group and primary author of the book, says the source book approaches SOA from a practical standpoint with a focus on architecture and governance.
Juniper expands product lines
Juniper Networks is introducing several new products that make up the next generation of its distributed enterprise technology, reports eChannelLine.
The networking vendor has added four new products to the SRX Series family, targeted at smaller businesses than the SRX products already available.
It is also bringing out a new EX Series line of fixed-configuration switches, an entry-level series of access switches.
MaXXan ships 2G switch platform
While vendors such as Cisco, Brocade, Maranti, and McData continue to focus on first-generation intelligent switch platforms, four-year-old start-up MaXXan is shipping its second-generation switch platform - the MXV500 Intelligent SAN Switch, reports Infostor.
The MXV500 is designed to give users greater flexibility in the way they configure, scale, and run applications such as replication, mirroring, snapshots in a storage network or fabric, company officials say.
MaXXan will continue offering its initial appliance family in addition to the higher-end MXV500 switch platform, and appliance blades can be migrated to the MXV500 as storage network requirements change.
