Local entrepreneurs Jonathan Trope and Tim Collins have invested more than R100 000 to establish start-up, Stratify Cloud.
They describe Stratify Cloud as a platform that allows businesses or individual to compare the services provided by cloud providers and guide them to identify a suitable service provider to meet a need.
The platform is still in a beta stage, and so far it has three participating pilot cloud providers - Cloud Protect, Switch Telecom, and ReportStar Technologies.
"We are in the process of negotiating the inclusion of additional providers. Stratify Cloud is still in a beta phase, but it has been soft-launched and additional providers will be registered and published on an ongoing basis," says Trope.
Trope notes the idea for Stratify Cloud came about in 2014 through a discussion between the founders around cloud providers and how difficult it is to identify and understand, in a simple manner, what these cloud providers offer.
"Also, the fact that there was no easily approachable way to compare the various providers in the cloud led us to believe there was a question that could be answered since there was no doubt that we were not the only professionals encountering this issue," Trope says.
"The intention is for Stratify Cloud to become a trusted marketplace for business and even individual users to find the right cloud services that match their needs, as well as to help and demystify much of the jargon that gets thrown around cloud," he adds.
He notes the intention is to assist cloud providers to increase their reach and market share by providing them with a portal to market and sell their cloud services.
The platform also supplies the cloud providers with analytics on the state of the cloud market, and enables them to collaborate with other cloud providers with complementary offerings.
Trope says this is a fully self-funded start-up and all capital has been contributed by the founders.
