Softline ACCPAC acquires isoPOS

Johannesburg, 11 Dec 2006

Softline ACCPAC has acquired retail specialist isoPOS, a specialised software development house, which focuses on add-on software packages that integrate seamlessly with Accpac ERP.

Jeremy Waterman, MD of Softline ACCPAC, says the acquisition is in keeping with the company's go-to-market strategy.

"There are very few global ERP solution providers that offer a locally developed retail management solution. Experience has taught us that local ability is more important in the retail space. A successful retail management solution requires extensive local expertise and input," says Waterman. "This is especially true in the mid-market, which is where Softline ACCPAC focuses its attention."

Another significant advantage is the seamless integration with Accpac ERP. "It is a powerful combination and enables customers to enjoy end-to-end solutions that link the back office and front office. This enables customers to develop CRM strategies and run influential loyalty schemes," says Waterman.

Ivan Epstein, CEO of Softline, says the retail market is extensive and he believes Softline ACCPAC, together with its new retail management solution, will succeed in providing an integrated offering to several companies in the mid-market.

"The retail sector is valued at around R1 billion with very few established players. There is great merit in purchasing all the technology from one vendor. I think that is very appealing for most retailers and Softline ACCPAC will offer a comprehensive solution."

Karl Wagner, MD of isoPOS, said the primary motivation behind the deal with Softline was to ensure wider access to local markets and, more importantly, to international markets.

"Closer alignment will enable us to offer customers a full range of back-end retail solutions that fully integrate with Accpac."

Waterman concludes saying that Wagner will retain his current role, managing the retail side of Softline ACCPAC and its continued development. He says the new team will also utilise the same channel model and will have a dedicated manager to support business partners.
