Accounting, payroll and CRM software solution provider Softline Accpac has acquired retail software firm, isoPOS, for an undisclosed amount.
IsoPOS, a software development house, focuses on add-on software packages that integrate with Accpac ERP. IsoPOS's solutions are either PC- or Web-based and are designed using Microsoft technologies.
Karl Wagner, MD of isoPOS, says the primary motivation behind the deal was to ensure wider access to local markets and, more importantly, to international markets.
"Closer alignment will enable us to offer customers a full range of back-end retail solutions that fully integrate with Accpac."
Wagner will retain his current role, managing the retail side of Softline Accpac and its continued development.
Ivan Epstein, CEO of Softline, says the retail market is extensive and he believes Softline Accpac, together with its new retail management solution, will succeed in providing an integrated offering to several companies in the mid-market.
"The retail sector is valued at around R1 billion with very few established players. There is great merit in purchasing all the technology from one vendor. I think that is very appealing for most retailers."
Local ability
Jeremy Waterman, MD of Softline Accpac, says the acquisition is in keeping with the company's go-to-market strategy.
"There are very few global ERP solution providers that offer a locally-developed retail management solution. Experience has taught us that local ability is more important in the retail space.
"A successful retail management solution requires extensive local expertise and input," says Waterman. "This is especially true in the mid-market, which is where Softline Accpac focuses its attention."
