Softline VIP launches VIP People

Identifying a niche in the market, Softline VIP, part of the Sage Group, developed the latest generation payroll and HR software solution called VIP People. It was designed for the South African landscape, and the enterprise market in particular.

Corporate companies previously had a choice between an enterprise solution - with top of the range functionalities - and a standard solution that offers basic functionalities, with no option in between, says Anton van Heerden, the Managing Director of Softline VIP. “The price disparity between traditional enterprise HR and payroll systems and standard solutions leave precious few options for companies that need a solution that offers more functionality with an affordable price tag.”

VIP People effectively narrows the gap between standardised payroll and customised solutions. “It takes the deliverables of a standardised system to the next level by offering more than two-thirds of the functionality that a full-fledged enterprise system offers, at a fraction of the cost. There was no template available for what we wanted to offer, as the existing framework of a traditional standardised HR and payroll system was too limiting,” explains Van Heerden.

VIP People blurs the line between standard and customised HR and payroll solutions and is set to revolutionise the South African market. “We have taken our 26 years of knowledge in the payroll industry and designed an HR and payroll system from scratch that addresses all the typical hurdles that are found in the industry. The system operates utilising one database in a three-tiered architectural format comprising three separate layers that can physically be separated from each other,” says Van Heerden. The layers include the user interface, the business logic that drives it and the database.

The result is a system that offers superior functionality in a user-friendly framework, which is shipped in a standard system format, says Van Heerden. “There are often hidden costs involved in a customised system, for the simple reason that it is reliant on people. VIP People is a standardised system that will deliver superior functionality straight out of the box, without programmatic changes. It can be hosted over the net and is capable of handling anything from a mid-sized to a large enterprise environment,” concludes Van Heerden.
