Softline's Canadian product rated ahead of rivals

Johannesburg, 02 Apr 2001

A survey by US-based K2 Enterprises & Accounting Research has rated BusinessVision 32, the flagship product of Softline's Canadian subsidiary, BusinessVision, ahead of its nearest rivals - in terms of flexibility, performance and e-commerce integration.

Softline lists the product's nearest rivals as Accpac Small Business Series, Peachtree Complete and Sage BusinessWorks Gold.

It says that K2 Enterprises' research is recognised by the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants.

"Each year the company publishes a book called the Top Ten Accounting Products, which is utilised as a key reference by dealers and end-users throughout the US," it says.

"BusinessVision 32 will be featured in this influential publication which is scheduled for release in April 2001."

The group says 118 accounting software programs qualified for the survey. "However, in order to be included in the final report, an accounting product had to receive at least 25 ratings. Only 32 programs were successful."

The objective of the 2001 Accounting Software Survey was to determine the level of satisfaction and functionality of accounting software programs in wide use. The survey reflects the opinions of 2 449 respondents in the accounting and consulting community, primarily from the US, but including 11 other countries.

The survey was divided into several sections focusing on stability, performance, flexibility, ease of use, feature set, reporting, integration with Microsoft Office, e-commerce, third-party software and technical support.

Softline entered the Canadian accounting software market by acquiring BusinessVision in August last year.
