SoftSelect to focus on strengthening its reseller/partner channel

SoftSelect will from the beginning of 2004 redirect its core business focus from dealing with the end-users of its product lines, to the building and strengthening of its reseller/partner channel.

This decision was recently taken during management planning sessions mapping out the future of the company.

Although SoftSelect had, in the past, been dealing with a number of registered resellers already, it continued servicing its established end-user base directly as well. Even though it had never been in competition with its own resellers before, SoftSelect expanded its client base by canvassing and dealing with the end-client directly instead of re-channelling new business through the resellers.

Moving forward this will no longer be the case. All new business will be channelled through its reseller/partner channel transforming the company into a true first-tier product distributor.

SoftSelect will continue marketing and advertising its products directly to its end-user base to maintain and increase product awareness, but closing of deals and servicing of the clients will now be passed on to the resellers.

"This change of focus we felt was necessary to increase the exposure and the availability of the products in the market, as many of the products that we dealt with was up until then only known to a select market segment. We saw the channel as being an extension of our own sales efforts, with the added bonus that these resellers already had established relationships with new market segments that we may not have dealt with already," says Werner van der Walt, CEO of SoftSelect.

SoftSelect will continue to offer product and technical support in association with its Channel partners, while SoftSelect Campus will continue with technical product training courses to ensure the correct and effective use of its product lines.

As part of the move to strengthen and mature its channel, SoftSelect will shortly also be introducing a number of new reseller/partner channel programmes from which the channel can benefit. These programmes will be incentive driven to make it as attractive as possible for current partners, as well as new partners to do business with the company.
