SoftstartBTI seeks to appoint centre manager

Johannesburg, 30 Jan 2006

The Softstart Incubator, located in Tshwane and the Bodibeng Technology Incubator (BTi) located in Midrand, which are merging to establish a new, larger, more sustainable incubator, SoftstartBTI (Softstart Business and Technology Incubator) in April 2006, are seeking to appoint a centre manager for the merged entity.

Reporting to the SoftstartBTI board, the centre manager will assist the board in setting the strategic direction of the incubator, develop the business plan and market of the incubator and will be responsible for managing the incubator on a day-to-day basis; leading a small team of staff and outsourced contractors; setting policies and procedures for the efficient operation of the incubator and for the delivery of services; meeting of all KPIs set for the incubator; and creation of a new organisational culture and modus operandi for the new centre created out of the merger. A board appointment will be considered for a suitably qualified and experienced appointee.

Applicants should have formal technical as well as business qualifications in addition to relevant work experience in a hi-tech entrepreneurial environment in a general management position. Experience in the management of a technology incubator will be a strong recommendation, and owning and/or managing a small enterprise will also count in the applicant's favour. Experience in fund-raising would also be advantageous.

Applications should be in the form of a brief CV (maximum three pages) and must be submitted by 3 February 2006 by e-mail to Leonie@softstart.co.za.

SoftstartBTI offers a competitive salary package that is based on the qualifications, skills and experience of the appointee. Preference will be given to candidates from previously disadvantaged communities. The right not to fill the post should a suitable candidate not be found is reserved.

SoftstartBTI supports hi-tech entrepreneurs in starting and growing their businesses by offering innovative products and services to the entrepreneurial community, backed by local and international partners and associates.

SoftstartBTI is a real estate and networked technology incubator focused on the needs of early phase entrepreneurs in the ICT market. The incubator receives financial support from the Departments of Science and Technology, and Trade and Industry through the Godisa Trust.
