Software AG South Africa has announced the appointment of Willem Castelyn as its new head: Cape region. Based in Cape Town, Castelyn will focus on the area, with specific emphasis on the traditionally Cape-based companies in the insurance, oil, retail and media sectors.
“This appointment allows us to have a skill set based full-time in the Cape, and I am delighted to welcome someone of Willem's experience to the team,” says Emma Murray, Vice-President Sales and Country Manager Software AG South Africa.
Castelyn has spent several years as a COO and CIO for a global re-insurance company, with much of his training in financial and business issues being obtained in Europe.
He started his professional life in the technical end of the business systems market, having more than 20 years' experience in IT management, systems development, operational risk management, legal, logistics, and project management.
A member of the Computer Society of SA and the Insurance Institute of South Africa, Castelyn has considerable experience in a wide range of business and insurance solutions.
“Along with our highly qualified pre-sales team, which visits the Cape weekly, we see Willem as bringing real added value to our customer services and solutions. He will play an important role in our expansion plans for 2011,” says Murray.
