With the recent launch of its local office and in line with its global strategy, leading German software company, Software AG has appointed the AST Group as a Software AG partner with the rights to distribute and maintain its e-business packages in southern Africa.
Part of Software AG`s global strategy is to appoint partners that will assist it in growing its market share through strategic partnerships.
"This is especially true in the case of AST, which already has a strong Software AG client base and has the necessary skills and expertise," explains Joe Curran of Software AG. "In addition, AST has industry-specific strengths in mining, manufacturing and healthcare, which will assist Software AG to move into new industry sectors in SA."
AST will distribute the award-winning Software EntireX and Tamino XML Server products, which provide foundation components for enterprise application integration, content management and Web services.

"This will allow us to support our client`s strategic move to total business integration using enabling technologies like XML, which is the primary enabler of all integration technologies and applications."
Software AG`s Tamino XML Server offers a whole range of XML-based products for the development and integration of applications, processing and storage of data. At the core of Tamino XML Server is a database that stores and processes information in the XML format, without having to convert it first.
EntireX is Software AG`s middleware product and is a comprehensive solution for integrating platforms and applications within the enterprise and beyond. It enables organisations to integrate their existing data with new programmes.
