Darmstadt, Germany, 15 Nov 2010

Software AG today announced that it has been named by Gartner, a leading industry analyst firm, in the Leaders' Quadrant of the recently released Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools[1].

Enterprise architecture (EA) tools help companies ensure that IT design and development follows a path that enables the achievement of essential business goals. With the integration of ARIS into its product portfolio, Software AG delivers a feature-rich tool set well known for its longstanding leadership in EA and business process analysis (BPA).

“It is an honour to be recognised in the Leaders' Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools,” said Dr Wolfram Jost, Chief Technology Officer and Member of the Executive Board, Software AG. “The proven capabilities of the ARIS Platform in enterprise architecture management, especially in alignment of business goals with IT strategy and operations, are key elements customers have come to depend on.”

In describing the EA market, Gartner stated: “Enterprise architects must integrate, analyse and communicate structured and unstructured information about a wide range of subjects (technology, solutions, interfaces, information and data, business processes, organisation structure, and strategy). This information must be authoritative, auditable and meaningful for a variety of stakeholders across IT and the business.” EA tools allow architects to fulfil this role by allowing them to capture, store, structure, analyse and present information related to EA and by allowing for multiple architectural viewpoints.

The ARIS Platform enables customers to plan, visualise and evaluate processes, applications, technologies, data and organisations through a central repository. The consistent integration of all information means that architecture elements can be re-used across all views on the enterprise for planning, design and development of solution scenarios. All involved parties of an organisation, from senior management to operational managers, are supported by stakeholder-oriented viewpoints to facilitate their daily work.

Software AG's Enterprise Architecture Management Solution contains a rich metamodel with broad EA reference content that provides a foundation on which to structure and relate the variety of information that is essential to involved stakeholders. ARIS also has the ability to exchange information with a range of products, including development tools and integration middleware. By providing rich modelling and BPA capabilities, ARIS is ideally suited for organisations that want to use the same tool for EA and BPA to efficiently manage their IT and align it with business needs.
