Software AG today announced it was named a leader by Gartner, a leading industry analyst firm, in the recently published Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Systematic SOA Infrastructure Projects.
The Magic Quadrant examined application infrastructure middleware vendors providing support for the implementation of an infrastructure that is shared across multiple applications, enabling interoperability and governance.
According to the report: “Leaders in this market are vendors able to provide mature ESB capabilities, a range of proven orchestration options and a comprehensive set of SOA governance technologies. These vendors' products have been widely adopted across verticals and geographies, as individual items and in combination to support large and business-critical SOA infrastructure deployment projects. The installed base of these vendors is on the order of multiple hundreds of users that have adopted the full spectrum of their SOA infrastructure technologies, and in the thousands (at least 3 000) for the more-popular individual components (typically, the ESB products).”
“Software AG takes great pride in our recognition as a leader in the SOA infrastructure market, delivering cutting-edge, innovative software,” said Dr Wolfram Jost, Chief Technology Officer, Software AG. “We are providing technology and expertise that helps our customers operate more efficiently, enterprise-wide, and with their customers and suppliers.”
Gartner's evaluation of Application Infrastructure for Systematic SOA Infrastructure Projects was based on Software AG's webMethods Suite. At the core of the webMethods Suite, which offers extensive integration capabilities, are an advanced Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and a flexible Registry/Repository that provide the foundation for a services-oriented architecture (SOA) platform.
Companies around the world are taking advantage of Software AG's technology to build and govern their SOA infrastructure. SOA has become the de facto architecture for integrating business channels and automating processes. It has emerged as the preferred architecture for enabling mobile and cloud strategies. Practically all enterprise mobile apps require access to existing business functions, and adopting cloud applications and services requires integrating them with existing business systems and applications. These trends represent groundbreaking business opportunities for companies to reduce costs, improve productivity and customer service, and enhance differentiation.
“Investment in SOA is paying rich dividends as companies start exploiting mobile and cloud computing,” Dr Jost added. “Companies are discovering that SOA is the best architecture to power mobile apps, integrate cloud services and expose business functionality using cloud APIs (application programming interfaces). Only the webMethods Suite provides a complete and integrated infrastructure for all of these uses of SOA.”
The evaluated version of the webMethods Suite was 8.2.2, released in November 2011. A new major version 9.0 will be presented in October at Software AG's ProcessWorld, in Orlando, Florida. Visit www.processworld.com.
