Software AG has restructured at an international level to facilitate its expansion into its 59 established markets and strengthen the development of new ones. The decision realigns its local operation, Software AG (South Africa).
In terms of the new structure, the company's global presence is organised into three international regions: North America/Northern Europe, Southern Europe/Latin America, and Central/Asia.
Software AG (South Africa) now formally falls within the 'North America/Northern Europe' grouping, which was formed to boost cooperation and intensify the exchange of knowledge between the English-speaking countries. Mark Edwards, member of Software AG's Management Board, leads the region together with regional general manager for SA, David Broadbent. Previously, SA was aligned with the NEAPSA (Northern Europe, Asia Pacific and SA) region.
According to Software AG (South Africa) sales director, Devon Dalbock, the new international structure exploits the traditional close connections of the English-speaking countries with the strength and innovation of the US market, for effective market development.
"With this new organisational structure, Software AG can react flexibly to the continuously changing economic and technical requirements of its markets," Dalbock said.
"It also supports the recent restructuring of research and development, product management and marketing for Software AG's strategic areas addressing the modernisation of Enterprise Transaction Systems (product families Adabas and Natural) and XML-based Integration (product families Tamino XML Server and EntireX).
"The company's financial performance for the second quarter ending 30 June 2004 is proof that this strategy is already paying dividends. The fact that Software AG's licence revenue, full quarterly revenue and earnings came in above market expectations are a strong indication that our strategy of focusing on our core strengths of enterprise transaction system modernisation and XML business integration is working," he said.
In March this year, Software AG (South Africa) more than quadrupled the size of its existing local operation and took back responsibility for its large customer base in the country when it decided not to renew its local distribution and maintenance contract with Dimension Data for its Adabas/Natural product stream.
