Software Consulting Services (Pty) Ltd (SCS) has announced it will be providing installation and support for the latest version of ASTRAC Asv5, a powerful set of cost-effective integrated tools for creating decision support, business intelligence and information management systems in an IBM zSeries and OS390 environment.
Asv5.3 is the latest version and provides the following features:

* Data management facilities to create, modify and update data.

* An advanced end-user interface offering PC-like operation with mouse, graphic and colour support on terminals and emulators.
* A complete project management system.
* A wide range of statistical analysis and forecasting techniques.
* A business planning system including multi-dimensional problems. "Most companies use business intelligence systems that are too time-consuming in developing," says SCS Business Intelligence Consultant, Ian Sutherland.
Many large companies use manually developed information management systems, and these are often very costly in terms of time spent on writing the source code for the application, whereas Asv5 allows for quick application development. When using packaged software, some companies find their most annoying problem is that of integration of the various data management tools. Asv5 runs smoother queries through the "Uncommitted Read" isolation level feature, which allows queries to run without locking tables after extraction. ASTRAC Asv5 runs in a System/390 environment under MVS and VM systems, including z/OS and z/VM, and is available in 17 languages.
