Software Futures appoints new MD

Johannesburg, 15 Mar 2004

Collin Matjila, chairman of the Software Futures KKM Group, has announced the appointment of Vaughan Diedrick as managing director of the group, one of SA's leading software development companies. Diedrick was previously the group's chief operating officer.

The acquisition of Software Futures last year by Brown Brothers and Kopano Ke Matla resulted in one of the largest broad-based black empowered companies in the IT sector.

Diedrick, who has been with the company since 1998, said his immediate challenge is to grow the business after a tough two-year cycle of decline coupled with market conditions and the MGX saga. "I believe the company is poised to find and leverage new growth areas across the world markets and in SA."

He believes one of the core strengths of Software Futures is its people. "We have passionate people who remain committed to the company and its values and who live its ethos."

He added that the company has enjoyed strong client and supplier relationships, which it is now able to enhance and develop to the benefit of all parties.

The appointment sees the completion of a transitional phase for the company following the deal with the Brown Brothers consortium, which freed it from the woes of MGX. "The restructuring of the company is complete and we are now strongly positioned for growth off the back of our new ownership and BEE standing of 51%," Diedrick said.

Arthur Brown, previously acting managing director of Software Futures, will now fill the role of chief executive.
