Software Futures scoops three top Oracle SA awards

Johannesburg, 26 Feb 2002

Software Futures, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE Securities Exchange-listed MGX, scooped three of the top 10 prizes at the annual Oracle SA Awards ceremony held recently.

An Oracle partner since 1999, Software Futures won the Business Excellence and Marketing Excellence awards for 2001, while Software Futures account executive Dean Conde won the Salesman of the Year award. As a result, Software Futures has been invited to attend the Oracle EMEA 2001 Awards in France.

Oracle re-engineered its go-to-market strategy in 1998 to include partners for the first time, in recognition of the importance of the channel in an evolving marketplace. Oracle has 150 partners in SA and 4 600 globally. Sales through the channel have grown remarkably from 6% to more than 50%.

Software Futures is SA's largest Oracle SA partner in terms of development and integration capacity. The partnership has yielded several Oracle firsts, including the first partner-primed licence sold and implemented in SA, the first certified technology partner appointment - there are now 25 in SA - the first sale and implementation of Oracle application products by a partner and recently, the first partner to achieve EMEA Certified e-Business Partner status, signifying recognition of Software Futures' excellence by Oracle at an international level.

Software Futures is currently one of only two EMEA Certified e-Business partners in SA, and one of only 25 in the entire EMEA region. A fifth of Software Futures' 500 software staff specialise in and are dedicated to the Oracle platform, applications and technology implementations.

"We congratulate Software Futures on their achievements," says Robin Morello, MD of Oracle SA. "The relationship between Oracle and Software Futures is a model of success. Our partnership has brought value to our business in terms of market reach and a unique set of solutions to complement Oracle's offerings. We are tremendously proud of Software Futures' customised 'rapid implementation/fixed cost' model for Oracle Financials and HRMS."

"We won the awards as a result of our commitment to Oracle, and our excellent sales and technical staff," says Derek Hughes, MD of Software Futures. "Our strategic relationship with Oracle is an example of our best practice of always backing the leaders in all of the fields in which we do business. As a result, Oracle has contributed significantly to Software Futures' success. We look forward to repeating or bettering this performance in 2002."

Hughes adds that Software Futures' faith in Oracle extends to its internal management structures. It has chosen Oracle e-Business Suite to run its own business finance, customer relationship management, human resources and sales operations.
