Software Futures to host 7th quarterly Rational User Group event

Johannesburg, 30 Jun 2003

Software Futures is to host its next IBM Rational User Group of South Africa event in Cape Town on 8 July and Johannesburg on 10 July. Trevor van Rensburg, business unit manager at Software Futures, says: "With Rational Software's recent acquisition by IBM, we are entering an exciting new phase in the company's history."

Among the speakers will be Mark Roberts, one of IBM Rational's top technical consultants on software configuration management. His experience spans over 14 years in the development of software applications, ranging from mainframe and desktop-based applications to safety critical real-time embedded software systems.

On joining Rational Software in 1999, Roberts was engaged in the assessment and guidance of customer requirements, installation of products and customer training. He has also been product manager for configuration and change management solutions. He is currently engaged with organisations in defining and delivering configuration management solutions.

At this event, existing and prospective customers will:

* Learn more about the acquisition of Rational by IBM and how this benefits clients.

* Find out what's new from IBM Rational - including news on two new products.

* Hear presentations and discussions covering the specialist areas of change and configuration management and testing.

* Learn from the experience of other Rational users and discuss ideas or issues with Rational representatives.

Among the topics that will be presented are:

* The software development platform for an "on-demand" world.

* What's new in IBM Rational Suite v2003 - introducing exciting new products and enhancements.

* Architected rapid application development (including demonstration).

* Test smarter, finish faster - introducing IBM Rational XDE Tester (including demonstration).

* Software configuration management best practice - adaptability, scalability and reliability.

* Adapt quickly to business demands with unified change management.

There will be a lucky draw where the winner will win a trip to the Rational User Conference 2003, in Orlando, Florida in August.

In Cape Town the meeting will be held at Holiday Inn Garden Court, and in Johannesburg at the Volkswagen Conference Centre.

The event is free. Deadline for registration is Tuesday, 1 July. To register for the Cape Town event, e-mail Lisa Song on lisa.song@softwarefutures.com or call (021) 700-5000. Johannesburg registration is through Loryn Liddiard (loryn.liddiard@softwarefutures.com, or call (011) 458-6900).
