NT software specialist Server Tools has announced the availability of PictureTaker Express, LANovation`s software distribution program. PictureTaker Express automatically packages any changes IT administrators want to make on a variety of other Windows PCs into a single file that can correctly install itself without the need for special client software on the target PCs.
Anyone who needs to distribute software to Windows desktops can now deliver new or updated software over the Web, through any internal network, on a CD-ROM, or through e-mail without first having to install special client software on those PCs. PictureTaker Express also offers software and hardware vendors a new way to distribute software to their customers.
Because PictureTaker Express`s self-installing files are standard Windows executables, they can be signed with an electronic signature issued by an authorisation service such as VeriSign. This reassures a recipient that a self-installing file comes from a trusted source.
With PictureTaker Express`s Expert, there are only two steps to creating a self-installing file: name the file and install the software that you want to distribute using the file.
PictureTaker Express automatically captures every change made to your PC and creates a file that will correctly recreate the installation on other PCs. For further ease of use, PictureTaker Express lets you edit the contents of a self-installing file, add smart variables, change its installation properties, set disk space and operating system requirements, and assign reboot options through the graphical interface.
