Two market leaders join forces to offer the European market LAN/WAN Video communication capability.
Sony Broadcast and Professional and Madge Networks, a worldwide supplier of data, video and voice networking solutions, have joined forces to provide complete solutions for video communication via local and wide area networks to the European market. The arrangement brings together two market leaders, offering Sony^1s video communication systems, together with Madge video network connectivity solutions, to provide a range of LAN/WAN video communication business applications.
As organisations throughout Europe look to increase their competitive edge and improve working practices, they have confidence in video communication as one means of achieving these objectives. The joint marketing arrangement between Madge and Sony is aimed at delivering on these needs, and heralds the arrival of a new breed of video solutions, whereby increasingly powerful video products and sophisticated network infrastructures are enabling more widespread use of video communication.

The Sony Trinicom family of videoconferencing solutions includes a range of high quality desktop and group videoconferencing systems, and supports industry standards, including the H.261 and H.263 video compression algorithms. Together with either the Madge AccessSwitch family or Madge LAN Video Gateway family - which translates between ISDN and IP protocols for deploying video over a LAN - users will have access to unprecedented video communication solutions across networks.
