Sony debuts HD camcorders
Sony introduced two affordable high-definition camcorders this week, BetaNews reports. One model will allow for direct recording to DVD discs, while the other includes a 30GB hard drive (HD), permitting video storage and in-camcorder and PC editing.
The video cameras record in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, which provides a truer-to-life sound reproduction on playback.
An optional Bluetooth wireless microphone enables the recording of centre-channel sound up to 30.5m away.
Record figures for online child porn
A UK-based Internet monitoring group has received a record number of reports of online child pornography for the first six months of 2006, with half of all content traced back to the US, writes the Scotsman.
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) received 14 313 reports between January and June, up almost a quarter from the same period in 2005.
"2006 is proving our busiest year yet, with record reports processed and a record number of Web sites confirmed to contain child abuse," said Peter Robbins, IWF CEO.
