01 July 2004 - Sony's new wireless data video projector bridges the gap between networked sophistication and first-time-presenter simplicity. The super-bright 3000 ANSI VPL-CX85 features Sony's new effortless wireless transmission function, Air Shot.
"Air Shot technology greatly improves conventional wireless communication, simplifying wireless presentation without any technical knowledge," says Marius Louw, Sony Business SA product manager, display solutions. "With the supplied wireless function kits, data can be instantly transmitted to the projector."
Cables are no longer tangled over the table, and anyone at the table becomes a presenter. Using the Air Shot function, networking also enables easy projection of images by up to five projectors from a single PC source.
The Intelligent Auto Setup feature instantly readies the projector, allowing the user to start his presentation immediately. Users can place the projector off-axis from the centre of the screen by using the Side Shot feature. The VPL-CX85 also automatically performs keystone correction, both vertically and horizontally.
With this high-resolution XGA model, there is no longer the need to turn off the lights when using the projector. The VPL-CX85 also has a new cooling system, generating very low fan noise. In addition to the multiple input/output facilities, this projector enables high flexibility in system integration. It can be controlled via RS-232C or web browser access with Air Shot and the direct power on/off function allows an external control unit to turn the projector on and off.
"A crucial element of projector usage is security protection," notes Louw. "The VPL-CX85 is protected from unauthorised use with the password authentic system and control panel key lock, both of which are controlled by the software. In addition, the anti-theft ceiling mount kit PSS-AT3 is available as an optional accessory."
