Soon in SA: The new Landmark Systems TMON product line

By Datacentrix Holdings
Johannesburg, 08 Nov 2000

The new Landmark Systems TMON (The Monitor) product line, which will include three new products, is now available in South Africa, through Landmark`s sole local partner Supported . Supported Software is the IT infrastructure optimisation company in the Datacentrix Holdings group.

Landmark Systems Corporation announced that it has expanded its popular TMON (The Monitor) product line to include three new performance management products. These new products meet the needs of users of TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/ Protocol), IMS, and USS (Unix System Services). The new products will address the increasingly important areas of management and e-business application services, as well as offer expanded coverage for OS/390 performance management. The introduction of these products demonstrates an aggressive expansion of Landmark`s already comprehensive line of OS/390 performance management solutions and signals Landmark`s commitment to delivering performance solutions for today`s critical e-business technologies.

"We anticipate that these new products will do exceptionally well in the South African market, as well as internationally, because no product currently exists in the market that is as competitive as the new range, especially TMON for TCP/IP, which also includes monitoring capabilities for FTP. It is the only OS/390-centric TCP/IP product that includes management of non-OS/390 stacks and devices, and thus, provides the only complete enterprise-wide TCP/IP monitor," comments Supported Software product specialist Jerome Benting.

"We are pleased to offer three new solutions for managing the performance of critical information technology and e-business operations, " says Landmark president and CEO Kathy Clark. "Landmark is committed to delivering solutions to manage the performance and service levels of our customers` critical technologies, including such important e-business technologies as TCP/IP and USS," she remarked.

TCP/IP is the protocol suite developed for Internet connectivity and a standard technology supporting e-business infrastructures. Landmark`s TMON for RCP/IP solution for TCP/IP will enable organisations to monitor and manage the availability of network devices and overall network performance. The product will also provide detailed insight into all critical resources impacting TCP/IP network performance by extending beyond the OS/390 to monitor and manage non-OS/390 TCP/IP stacks and Cisco routers, while also providing visibility into S/390 subsystems, applications, and resources that impact the IBM OS/390 TCP/IP stack.

The IMS database and transaction computing system is used by the world`s major corporations and is a key component of many of the largest e-businesses. With Landmark`s IMS solution, these corporations will be able to better manage and optimise their IMS operations through broad problem solving and resolution capabilities, as well as task analysis, exception analysis, and resource management of the IMS database and transaction computing system. Landmark`s USS (TMON for Unix System Services) offering is a comprehensive new solution for managing the performance of Unix System Services. USS has enabled the porting of popular open systems applications and database systems. Traditional non-OS/390 systems, like Lotus Notes, WebSphere and SAP R/3 run on OS/390 via USS. Landmark`s new product will provide configuration management, performance monitoring and diagnosis and tuning for USS on OS/390. Landmark`s products for TCP/IP and IMS will be generally available worldwide and in South Africa through Supported Software in December 2000. The solution for USS will be available in the first quarter of 2001.
